  • Harmless. Does not form toxic by-products. 100% Biodegradable.
  •

Bactericidal efficacy

  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 1276, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory and its bactericidal activity against the following reference strains confirmed:Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus hirae.
  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 1656:2000, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory and been found to possess bactericidal activity against the reference strains
Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus hirae and Proteus vulgaris.
  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 13967, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory under normal and dirty conditions (aqueous solution of bovine albumin) and been found to possess bactericidal activity against the following reference strains on surfaces:
Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus hirae.
  • According to a study performed by the Department of Microbiology, Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the School of Medicine at the University of Zaragoza, OX-VIRIN® is effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Yersinia enterocolitica, Salmonella enteritidis, Listeria greyi and Escherichia coli after different exposure times.
  • Bactericidal efficacy against Salmonella: According to the guidelines established in UNE EN standard 1656:2000, OX-VIRIN® exhibits bactericidal activity, at low concentration, against Salmonella serotypes, with a reduction of 105 CFU/mL after contact for 5 minutes under dirty conditions (bovine albumin 3g/L). Serotypes used in test performed by the AINIA Technology Centre Laboratory:

Salmonella virchow, Salmonella thompson, Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella hadar
  •
  • Bactericidal efficacy against Campylobacter: OX-VIRIN® exhibits bactericidal activity against Campylobacter jejuni at very low doses, with reductions of more than 105 CFU/mL after a contact time of 1 minute under dirty conditions at room temperature. Testing was performed by the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Zaragoza using microaerophilia equipment specially designed to culture this microorganism.
  • In order to characterise the resistance of Campylobacter jejuni, the lethal efficacy of lower than recommended concentrations of this disinfectant was tested. The results showed that even very low concentrations of OX-VIRIN® were able to reduce the concentration of this microorganism by more than 105 CFU/mL under dirty conditions (bovine albumin 3g/L) at room temperature, thus demonstrating the extraordinary efficacy of OX-VIRIN® against this microorganism.
  • In light of tests performed by the AHVLA (Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency), DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) has approved the use of OX-VIRIN® in the UK.

Fungicidal activity

  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 1650, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory and been found to possess fungicidal activity against the following reference strains under both normal and dirty conditions:
    Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.
  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 1657:2007, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory and been found to possess fungicidal activity against the following reference strains under very dirty conditions (10g/L yeast extract + 10g/L bovine albumin):
    Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.
  • In compliance with UNE EN standard 13967, OX-VIRIN® has been tested in a Microbiological Control Laboratory under dirty conditions (3 g/L aqueous solution of bovine albumin), with a contact time of 15 minutes at 22 °C, and been found to possess fungicidal activity against various reference strains on surfaces.
  • This study was performed by the Servei Tècnic Postcollita del Institut de Recerca i Tecnología Agroalimentaria (IRTA) at the University of Lleida. Efficacy as a container disinfectant against spores from the fungi responsible for post-harvest fruit rot. Efficacy against strains: Penicillium expansum, Botrytis cinerea and Rhizopus stolonifer.
  • Study performed by the Servei Tècnic Postcollita del Institut de Recerca i Tecnología Agroalimentaria (IRTA) at the University of Lleida. The application of a low dose of OX-VIRIN® to wood surfaces (the most commonly used material in fruit and vegetable packing centres) for 30 seconds resulted in a satisfactory reduction (<1 CFU) in contamination by Penicillium expansum and Botrytis cinerea.

Viricidal activity

  • In compliance with UNE-EN standard 14675: 2007, in tests performed by the AINIA Technology Centre Laboratory, OX-VIRIN demonstrated viricidal activity against bovine enterovirus type 1 (ECBO) ATCC VR-248 at very low concentrations under very dirty conditions (10g/L bovine albumin + 10g/L yeast extract).
    Virus suspension title: log -7.50
    Maximum detectable inactivation: log -5.0

  • OX-VIRIN® has been tested against the following human viruses by the Instituto Valenciano de Microbiología according to the methods described in standards NF T72-180 and prEN-14476, with reductions greater than 1 x 104 ID50 being obtained:
Orthopoxvirus Vaccinia, Adenovirus type 5 and Poliovirus type 1.
