d-Cloprostenol, solution for injection
COMPOSITION PER ML:
d-Cloprostenol (sodium salt) 75 μg d-Cloprostenol is the dextrarotatory analogue of cloprostenol. Different clinical studies have shown that d-cloprostenol is 3 - 4 times more potent that cloprostenol (racemic mixture). d-Cloprostenol is a functional analogue of prostaglandin F2α with a specic luteolytic activity. Its administration in the luteal phase of the cycle induces the regression of the corpus luteum, and creates the preconditions for the beginning of the physiological functions associated to the decrease of the progesterone levels. One injection of d-cloprostenol from the 7th day of the cycle to the natural luteolysis produces the immediate regression of the corpus luteum. The mechanism of action of d-cloprostenol in the control of ovulation is based on the luteolysis induction and the decrease in the progesterone concentrations that produce a sequence of hormonal events that culminates in ovulation.
INDICATIONS:
Cows and Heifers:
- Synchronization and induction of heat.
- Anoestrus periods after parturition.
- Coadjuvant treatment in chronic endometritis and pyometra.
- Luteinic cysts.
- Persistent corpus luteum.
- Induction of abortion.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not administer to:
- Pregnant females if the abortion is not desired.
- Sows which are expected to have a distocic parturition due to abnormal position of the foetus, mechanical obstruction, etc.
- Animals suffering cardiovascular or respiratory diseases.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
No side effects have been observed in the treated animals. If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this lea‑et, please inform your veterinarysurgeon.
TARGET SPECIES: Cows.
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION:
Cows and Heifers: 2 ml of GESTAVET PROST/animal, equivalent to 150 g of
d-cloprostenol/animal, by intramuscular injection.
ADVICE ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION:
The product must not be handled by pregnant women, asthmatics or people with bronchial or other respiratory diseases. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash the eyes with abundant water. Avoid contact with the skin. In case of accidental contact, wash immediately the affected area with abundant water.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Meat: 24 hours. Milk: 0 hours.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR STORAGE:
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Store in a refrigerator (2 ºC - 8 ºC). Keep the vial in the outer carton in order to protect from light. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label.
