Doxycycline, in oral solution

COMPOSITION PER ML:
Doxycycline (hyclate) 100 mg.
INDICATIONS:
Broilers: Colibacillosis, CRD and Mycoplasmosis produced by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline such as Gram (-) (Pasteurella sp., Salmonella sp., Escherichia coli); Gram (+) (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus sp.); Clostridium sp.; Mycoplasma sp.; Rickettsia; Chlamydia and some protozoo.
Swine: To treat infections of the respiratory system, caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus parasuis and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
INTERACTIONS:
Absorption of doxycycline can be reduced by the presence of ions of calcium, iron, magnesium, or aluminium in feed.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not administer to animals which are known to be sensitive to tetracyclines.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Photosensitization. In prolonged treatments, digestive alterations caused by intestinal disbiosis may appear.
ADMINISTRATION ROUTE:
Oral, in the drinking water.
DOSAGE:
Broilers: 0.5 to 1 ml/litre of drinking water for 3 to 5 days.
Swine: 0.5 to 1 ml/litre of drinking water for 8 consecutive days.
The medicated water must be the only source of drinking water.
The medicated water must be renovated every 24 hours.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Meat: Broilers: 10 days. Swine: 4 days.
Do not administer to laying birds whose eggs are destined for human consumption. Store in a cool place, protected from light, at temperature not exceeding 25 ºC.
