HIPRAPOX
Live vaccine against Fowl pox virus, FPV92 strain, in injectable freeze-dried tablet
COMPOSITION PER DOSE:
Live fowl pox virus, FPV92 strain ≥ 103.5 EID50 Fowl pox is a common viral disease of poultry. The disease is distributed worldwide in one of its two forms, cutaneous or diphtheritic (wet pox). LABORATORIOS HIPRA, S.A. produces the vaccine HIPRAPOX using a strain of fowl pox virus, attenuated, which cannot induce the disease and it effectively protects vaccinated birds.
INDICATIONS:
Chickens (Broilers, Layers and Breeders) and Turkeys: To prevent Fowl pox, both in the cutaneous or diphtheritic forms in chickens (broilers, layers and breeders) and turkeys.
DOSAGE:
Chickens and Turkeys: 1 dose/bird.
ADMINISTRATION FORM AND ROUTE:
Chickens: Dissolve the freeze-dried tablet in the solvent. Extend the wing membrane. Apply carefully the vaccine by puncturing the membrane in a manner that does not provoke lesions in the blood vessels. The needle must be freshly impregnated with the vaccine solution when performing each administration.
Turkeys: Dissolve the freeze-dried tablet in the solvent. One drop of the vaccine solution will be applied by follicular scari_cation in the thigh.
Vaccination programme recommended:
Broilers: They can be vaccinated from one day of age.
Layers and Breeders: Vaccinate between the 8 and 12 week of age. In areas of high risk of the disease, the vaccination can be administered on the day of hatching, revaccinating before the laying period.
Turkeys: They can be vaccinated from one day of age.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
0 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: None has been described.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
- After 7-10 days post-vaccination, one or two nodules should appear at the injection site which transform into scabs (“take”), indicating that the bird has been vaccinated. The scabs will disappear within 2-3 weeks after the vaccination.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
- Do not vaccinate diseased birds, only those that are healthy.
- Check the expiry date of the product.
- Use steril material.
- The solvent used to dissolve the freeze-dried tablet should not be a high temperature; it should not exceed 15 °C.
- Shake gently until complete resuspension of the freeze-dried tablet before administration.
- Once used, sterilize the vial and its content, as well as the two-pronged needle, by heat.
- Store at +2 to +8 °C, protected from light.
- In case of accidental self-injection, seek medical advice immediately and show the package insert or the label to the physician.
- Treat the disposable materials by boiling, incineration or immersion in a suitable disinfectant, which has authorized by the competent authorities.
